Not Just Another Facebook Quiz

I have lost track of how many Facebook quizzes I have taken. Which Disney character are you? Which woman in the Bible?  Recently it was which Golden Girls character would I be?

I have to admit that I was disappointed that I wasn’t “Dorothy” in the Golden Girls quiz. I figured for sure I would get her, and my mom would be Dorothy’s mom, “Sophia”. In my mind, Dorothy and Sophia, best describe the awesome relationship my mom and I have. I got Rose. And I am embarrassed to admit that I did not share my results on Facebook. Why? Rose, though a wonderful friend, is very ditzy. I did not want to hear the flack I might take from that announcement.

Those quizzes are fun but they don’t really count when it comes to describing who we are. Who am I really and what would someone say about me?  Who are you?  What would someone say about you?  Better yet, what is Jesus going to say when He meets you and me at the gates of heaven?

If your life on earth could be summed up in a quiz, what would it be?

Recently when I was in church, my pastor said something in his sermon that really struck a chord in my heart. One day when we meet Jesus, He is going to say one of two things to each of us, which one will it be?

Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’ But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’ Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’ But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!’  Luke 13:24-27

His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ Matthew 25:21

Those were the only two choices and I have to say that those choices really hit home with me. The second one is what I hope to hear Jesus say to me. I know that works cannot earn my salvation and I understand that some people are going to give me flack because of my walk with Christ. The first statement for me is not even an option. I don’t want to be talking the talk about a Christ-filled life and not walking it out. I don’t want to stand in front of my Savior one day and have Him say, “I don’t even know who you are. All your talk means nothing to Me because there is no real evidence of ME in you”. I want to hear Him say, “Well-done, my good and faithful servant”, as I fall to my knees in front of Him.

Those Facebook quizzes are for entertainment but this is real life. Today, which one of those choices best describes you? Choose wisely.
