More Than Enough

carol doyel getting ordained

By Carol L. Doyel –

This was a very special day for me – Today I was ordained. The service was hosted at Jesus is Supreme Global Outreach Church (JSGO) with Chairman of Full Gospel Assemblies (FGAI), Pastor Simeon Strauser leading the commissioning, and the pastors of JSGO, my Pastor’s wife, and one of our elders who all laid hands on me (as seen in the picture).

The journey started for me a number of years ago when I enrolled with Full Gospel Bible Institute (FGBI) where I studied the Word of God for three years. It was a wonderful three years, and I discovered that I was an excellent student, which had not always been the case.

After graduating from FGBI I served in various capacities in the church from 2004 to present. I love serving in food ministries and decided to start a community soup night which I hosted for five years, followed by cooking for a woman’s rehab facility one day a week for almost two years in New Orleans, but overtime it became evident that God was calling me to serve in women’s ministry. In 2011 the Lord launched me into a new business-ministry, which a friend of mine refers to it as “misnesstry” and in 2013 I became the West Coast/Hollywood Regional Director for Christian Women in Media Assoc. (CWIMA).

I feel that I have discovered my calling, as well as my life-work, and I can see now how God causes all things to work together, including our past experiences, work, personal trials, tribulations, failures and even our sin, working them all together into a beautiful tapestry, as the Word says:

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.” (Romans 8:28-29, NASB)

It is a miracle, as I shared with a group of beautiful people who gathered for the Full Gospel Assemblies West Coast Leadership Summit, that the Summit was scheduled the weekend following the approval of my ministerial license, near where I currently live in southern CA. It is the first time the event has been hosted in Los Angeles in the 53 year FGBI history…but God knows the beginning from the end and it is He who orders our steps. I can see how God has worked many pieces of my life together for good and He is doing the same for you!

Last weekend I came across the familiar story about Jesus feeding the 5000 and I felt a nudging of the Holy Spirit, as He often does when He wants to show me something that I haven’t noticed before about a particular verse or passage.

more than enoughI did not have the time to dig in at that moment. But then again a couple days later, I came across the verse again and felt the Holy Spirit tapping me a little harder and I thought, “Okay Lord I get it, you want to show me something”. So, I read the scripture again and began to ponder the event, of Jesus instructing the disciples to take the five loafs of bread and two fish to feed the multitude. The story is one of which many people, many hungry people, gathered to see and hear Jesus. He fed them both natural and spiritual food and there was more than enough to go around.

But the part of the story that the Holy Spirit seemed to be highlighting was the end of the story, when Jesus said to the disciples: “Gather up the leftover fragments so that nothing will be lost.” (John 6:12 NASB). As I thought more about Jesus’ statement, it occurred to me that in the Kingdom of God, nothing goes to waste – and that any leftover pieces provided by Jesus will never “be lost”.

When Jesus calls you to feed His flock or to serve in whatever capacity He calls you to, there will always be more than enough. He will provide what we need and the “leftover pieces” should be gathered up and used.

When God fed the 4000 and the 5000 out of His divine storehouse, there was plenty to feed the people and enough left over for the servants of God. The pieces of leftovers, I believe, represent the miraculous works of God and He does not want us to forget them. The fact that there was leftovers proved that there was more than enough for everyone, that they indeed had not run out of food (had the baskets been empty we would have been left guessing if there had really been enough to go around). He wants you to remember what He has done – the “leftover pieces” reveal His power, which is also how He is able to work all things together for good in your life, which is nothing short of a miracle – your life weaved together into a beautiful tapestry – one piece at a time.

In the Kingdom of God – Nothing is lost and there will always be enough!
