Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Isaiah 43:1-5. One of my greatest concerns in life has been helping my children to see who they are in Christ. My hope is that they will be confident and secure knowing whom they were created by God to be.
“But now, this is what the Lord says—
he who created you, Jacob,
he who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
2 When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
3 For I am the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I give Egypt for your ransom,
Cush[a] and Seba in your stead.
4 Since you are precious and honored in my sight,
and because I love you,
I will give people in exchange for you,
nations in exchange for your life.
5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you;
I will bring your children from the east
and gather you from the west.”
Your creator will protect you from harm.
Being in a sports team can give some athletes confidence and security. It is the same reason why bikers join groups. Standing with many others in the flanks to support you can give you great confidence and willingness to be bold and brave.
It is so important to know your creator for many reasons. One bonus to knowing God is that you begin to understand how great His love is for us. He has already done so much for us, overcoming all barriers to restore us to Him.
If God will undertake so great a challenge to restore us, how much more does His words in Isaiah mean to us? The creator, the Lord of and ruler of everything has our back. We stand before our obstacles with not only angels flanking our sides, but with the support of Jesus! Next time you are fearful, just close your eyes and look around. See the heavenly hosts protecting and backing you!
Let’s Pray
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, Jesus, for being my back-up. You are most able and willing to protect me, and today I ask that You do. I turn my eyes off of the things that worry and concern me to look upon You. Will You take control and handle this for me?
In Jesus Name,
Amen
