Tailgate (or anytime) Recipes That Won’t Sideline You

Even if you or your tailgate guest don’t have food sensitivities these snacks will disappear. Go off the grid with some healthier options that don’t have dairy, gluten or grains, not to mention the packaged and processed foods that can leave you with food hangover even if you don’t indulge!

Here’s the way to score at the game or for your arm-chair team. Enjoy the simple recipes below:

Hummus

2 cups canned garbanzo beans, drained

fall scents for your home

1/3 cup tahini

1/4 lemon juice

1 tsp. sea salt

1 clove crushed garlic

1 T. extra virgin olive oil

Pinch paprika

Blend ingredients in a food processor or blender. Transfer to your serving dish and sprinkle with paprika. Serve with veggies: red pepper, cucumber, jicama spears or other veggies.

Almond Butter and Celery Sticks

Couldn’t be simpler but this will disappear.

Roll-up thin-sliced smoked turkey with slices of avocado and cucumber and secure with team-colored toothpicks.

Roast Beef Roll-ups

Roll with a slice of goat cheese and red pepper. Secure.

6 boiled eggs

1/2 avocado (or more!)

2 tsp. dijon mustard (or more!)

1/2 tsp. hot sauce

1/2 tsp. each salt and pepper

paprika to garnish

Mayo is optional. Choose one with EOO or veganaise if you’re using. 

Mix with a blender or by hand. Pipe in or hand-stuff.

Combine one can organic black beans with 4 oz can diced green chilies and 1 tsp. Mexican seasonings. Enjoy with carrot sticks, zucchini sticks or other vegetables.
