The National Coalition of 100 Black Women holds their annual Madam C.J. Walker Luncheon in honor of the first female self made millionaire, Madam C.J. Walker herself. During this premier event, notable and accomplished business women are awarded for exemplifying the spirit and determination of Madam C.J Walker.

Naturally, these amazing women had the opportunity to speak and impart their wisdom. Particularly note worthy was this year’s Keynote Speaker, Sophia A. Nelson, Esq. Each week I share what I’ve learned in the business world, and because I was able to attend this premier event, I will be sharing the inspiring lessons learned at the Luncheon.

Turn your loss into a gain. That’s what Madame C.J. Walker Did. She was the 1st female self-made millionaire. She turned her hair loss into a gain by creating the hair care system that made her a million dollar entrepreneur.

Never cut what you can untie. Basically, don’t burn your bridges. Or as Sophia A. Nelson, ESQ. put it, “Be careful the toes you step on. They may be connected to the bottom you have to kiss one day.”

And finally, Know Your Power.
