Summer has arrived and if you’re thinking of getting a new hairstyle or just refreshing your current look why not consider a cosmetology school. There are some advantages if you have a little extra time.

Carol Doyel, my sister-in-law and founder of LivingBetter50.com, and I decided to take the plunge and visit Aveda Institute Los Angeles, CA for a day of adventure.

Damage Remedy Restructuring ConditionerAbout a year ago my hair was extremely damaged from years of over processing. While visiting my niece she advised me to try Aveda and gave me her Damage Remedy Restructuring Conditioner hair care product. It worked so well that prior to moving to China I took an ample supply with me. When looking for a salon to have our hair done naturally we both thought of Aveda and discovered there was a beauty school nearby.

Aveda products are known for their health and natural ingredients, as well as their concern for the environment, which adheres to both of our philosophies. Knowing Aveda cares about total health, using natural plant-derived ingredients, it takes away some of the risks of a botched job due to harmful chemicals used by less knowledgeable students.

My total cost for high-lights, color correction, a conditioning hair treatment, eyebrow waxing and product was under $110.00. Carol had full high lights and hair cut for under $90.00. You can make an appointment online and get additional 20% savings by posting a photo on Facebook. Also, all products are 20% off your first visit.

Our experience was positive overall and we were able to sit next to one another allowing us to talk, as we love to do, and chat with the students together. Throughout our appointment there were excellent instructors close at hand guiding the students, which gave me more assurance that they would do a good job on my hair.

Notable to our visit were the friendly stylists who offered tea, water and magazines to enhance our time in the “chair”. You can count on it taking longer than a professional salon as students receive instruction during the process so you may want to ask yourself – do I have the extra time? If the answer is yes, than why not take the leap and enjoy the savings? So see if there is an Institute near you click on the link below:
