Creative Crafting: How to Capture Your Travel Memories

How to Capture Your Travel Memories

By Patrick Vernon –

Whether you’ve traveled around the world, been to your favorite location for the 100th time or you’ve explored a new place that you want to remember forever then capturing your travel memories is something that you really need to do. But the question is how? Here are some fantastic crafty ways of keeping those memories alive:

Scrapbooks – Scrapbooks are a wonderful way to store all your memories. Keep all of your photos and pictures safe in one place that you’ll be able to share with friends and family for years to come. You can get everything you’ll need to create your own scrapbook from Homecrafts. When making a scrapbook I like to add as many thoughts, funny anecdotes and notes about the locations as I can think of. That way when I look back through them I’ll always be able to recall the tales of all the places that I’ve visited. I like to lay out all the photos that I’ve had printed on the floor and then put them in order of the days and events so as you flick through your book you’ll be able to relive that journey from the beginning to the end.

Photo collages – Printing all your photos couldn’t be easier nowadays. No longer do you need to take the film to the local chemist and wait a week for your prints to come back. You can either print photos at home or use printing companies online such as Snapfish, Jessops or Photobox. Once you’ve got your prints then pick your favorite photos that really capture the feel of your holiday. Don’t be afraid to select abstract photos such as pictures of foods, buildings and locations and not just a whole bunch of selfies. You can even use postcards, beer mats and napkins to go alongside the images you’ve taken. Gather your photos and other trinkets together and put them in one giant frame ready for display in a prominent position in your home.

Printed T-shirts – Sharing those memories for all to see is made easy by creating your very own printed T-shirts. You don’t just have to make one for yourself as these can also be excellent presents to others – especially if you’ve been away on holiday together and wish to remind them of that special time. Printing photos, sayings or place names onto your T-shirt couldn’t be easier. You just need a set of printable transfer paper that you can print directly onto and then iron your design straight on.

Memory cubes – Making a cube couldn’t be easier and you can make it using a variety of materials from paper and card to plastic or wood. Select your favorite photos or trinkets from your holiday and add to each of the sides. You’ll be able to add this to any shelf in your home or even to your coffee table in your living room for a real talking point. More ideas can be found on Pinterest.com.

Photo canvas – If you want that homemade craft look without actually doing any craft work yourself then why not try ordering a photo canvas. Photo canvases come in many different sizes and include wrap around prints that continue over the sides of the canvas for a 3D effect.
